Progress Assessment

The assignment that enjoyed the most was the strength and weaknesses essay because it required the most self assessment. I made me really look deep and pull out the truth in myself, mostly with my weaknesses.  I also liked the assignment about what drives me, it reminded me of the reasons why I do the things I do. The only assignment I have not completed is the fairytale assignment just because I’m not sure about how I want to approach it. It is a creative project that has been done many times and I just want to make it my own and not reiterate a tale that sounds like someone else’s. If I had more time I would try to spend more time on my strengths and weaknesses, so that I can tackle my weaknesses.

Community and You

1.      Community of women
2.      Community of young adults
3.      Community of the Bronx
4.      Community of Hispanics
5.      Community of students

I think that each community is equally important because they all represent apart of who I am.  I play a primary role in each community but the one that means the most to me is being a woman.  I believe it is the most important because before I am anything else I will always be a woman first.
The most important thing I get from being a woman is to value myself and to be grateful for the opportunities I have.  I know that in the past women were not be able to progress beyond the life of a housewife. I cannot imagine marriage being the highlight of my life and only aspiring to be a simple housewife for my entire life. It’s important for me to always strive to be more than a norm that was imposed years before.
The problem in the community of women is that they don’t get the recognition that they deserve.  Although women have proved to be more than efficient in the workplace, they still don’t get paid as much as men. I feel like women in America were granted the opportunity to progress in a man’s world, but will not be able to be on the same level as men.
