Major choice and goals

1. Hello everyone!!!!The reason I chose the major American Urban Studies at MCNY is because it is most closely related to the field that I want to pursue, which is in human services. As a transfer student and my previous major being sociology I am accustomed to many of the courses that are required for this major. It also incorporates courses that concentrate on social issues that will help me to get a better understanding of what is going on in the world, as well as allowing me to develop myself as a writer.

2. The same way everyone read it in the description of the major is the way I will say it, I want to be an agent for change. As cheesy as it may sound coming from me… it’s true. I watch so many documentaries and read articles about issues affecting people in other countries. After obtaining my Bachelor’s degree my goal is to join an organization that helps with the awareness and prevention of global issues. By the end of my college career I hope to begin the process of integrating my passions and make a living traveling, helping people and writing about it all.

3. As far as computers and Internet I am rather comfortable with it, since it’s something that has been used by my generation increasingly over the years. This is my first blog so I’m very excited to see what this is all about, and I think it will be fun. I have a Facebook but I am not obsessed with updating it as often as most people my age are changing their status and I honestly don’t care to share my every movement nor follow anyone else’s to add a Twitter.
